Catipillar ? Should We Be Worried?

Me and my family got a catipillar at the park and brought it home , its home is a plastic cage with holes at top so plenty of fresh air and with a few leaves and grass and two mini carrots . The thing Im worried about is the way it looks , it has fluffy white hair like things popping out and four orange dots vertical and horizontal about 4 rows of like 10 , little black head , kind of like the vietnam catipillar . But could this be the asian catipillar in California ? Is it safe in my house , and what should I feed it ? Water , how ?
