Good myths and legends of the world?...?

so my boyfriend was telling me about these things in mexico.. (duendes) .. i think is how you spell it .. which is like these creepy little elf/nome looking things.. very convincing,, and how there are all of these "conspiracies" of people seeing witches and other alien like creatures. well i starting thinking of all the things that are like that here.. like big foot and aliens and the lakness monster. and i got very curious of all the other stories out in the world.. anybody have any i can look up cause i am very in the mood :) or maybe a website i can visit ? thanks .
